Olive Cart is a beloved retail shop specializing in infused olive oils, balsamic vinegars, and gourmet pantry items, operating both brick-and-mortar and as an e-commerce store. Our scope was to consolidate their sprawling digital assets, which were spread across multiple hosting services and two domains, into a single, efficient online platform built around their core Shopify system.
Challenges
Olive Cart faced the challenge of managing a complex, confusing, and costly digital environment split across three platforms: Shopify (for e-commerce/POS integration), Thryv (for hosting/marketing), and remnants of an old A2 Host account, all while managing two separate domain names. This fragmentation led to wasteful duplicate spending, conflicting settings, and a technically difficult setup for the owner. Their main goal was to establish a clean, single marketing hub that would centralize resources, reduce overhead, and be easy to maintain for long-term growth.
Our Solution
Our solution was a comprehensive consolidation project centered on building a streamlined, new website entirely within the robust Shopify platform. We designated olivecart.com as the primary domain for the e-commerce site and implemented a permanent 301 redirect from the secondary domain, oliveoilstoremichigan.com, to ensure all existing traffic converged efficiently. Key project elements included migrating all existing product and content pages to Shopify, allowing us to eliminate Thryv and A2 Hosting. We focused on a clean, fully responsive website design to ensure a seamless shopping experience on all devices, leveraging Shopify’s inherent integrated inventory management and POS synchronization features. We also centralized domain and DNS management with GoDaddy and Google, eliminating the unnecessary complexity of Cloudflare and Thryv’s services.
Impressive Results
The consolidation resulted in immediate and measurable success across key metrics. Over the following 45 days, Olive Cart saw a significant performance lift, including a +57.4% increase in Total Users, a +57.8% spike in engaged sessions, and an impressive +59.53% engagement rate. Crucially, the foundational technical cleanup drove Organic Search Traffic up by 15.8%. By simplifying the digital hub, we eliminated wasteful duplicate hosting fees and replaced the confusing multi-platform setup with a single, easy-to-manage system, directly achieving the client’s goal of simplicity and efficiency while dramatically improving their online visibility.
