Salem Township Library

WordPress Website
Salem Township Library
Salem Township Library currently has a Library of Michigan website. While it is functional, it lacks the flexibility they desire for creativity and customization. They wanted to showcase their many different programs and services and, as part of their three-year strategic plan, build and promote a new website to enhance communications with patrons.

Specific Website Needs

The library needed a site with a user-friendly layout, but must meet WCAG 2.1 AA Compliance Standards (accessibility). The site also needed to feature a modern, mobile friendly design with fast load times.

What we did

We needed to connect several elements of the website to the co-op they belong to. For example, when patrons search the catalog for a book, a new tab is opened that takes them to the library’s co-op search, allowing them to easily swap back to the new website for further browsing.

We added an events feature, which they keep updated. Fun upcoming library events are a main feature on the home page, along with other available programs and news articles.

We also added a widget called “What’s New at the Library,” which links back to the co-op website, showcasing the latest library arrivals!

Further integrations include an option to sign up to receive text message updates for overdue books, an app for smartphone users, and a “get your library card” page, providing excellent resources for people to connect digitally.
